The final total raised at the fete on Saturday is a whopping £3,607.17!! An amazing amount which will really benefit the children in so many ways. Once again a massive thank you to FOSS and all their helpers.
Adders class had a special visitor today. PCSO Craig Gibbs came in to talk to the class about anti-social behaviour and knife crime.
The pupils in Year 6 went to 'Crucial Crew' at The Mix in Stowmarket on Friday. Real life scenarios were played out in front of their eyes with the aim of raising awareness on a wide range of hazards, from fire safety and drug and alcohol awareness to sugar safety, Internet and stranger danger and first aid, all presented by professionals in their field. Sebastian said, 'Crucial Crew taught us about stranger danger, how to look after the planet and fire safety. If your clothes are on fire they told us to stop, drop and roll!'
What a wonderful day we all had on Saturday. The good weather meant there was an excellent turnout for our fete with not just children, families and friends but lots of people from the local community enjoying the stalls, games, food and of course the band. A huge thanks to Jennie and her amazing team of FOSS helpers for working so hard to ensure the day ran smoothly and was such a great success. The final total raised is yet to be announced so watch this space...
Congratulations to the winners of our school fete programme designs - Lara (Foxes), Evelyn (Otters), Austyn (Hedgehogs) and Leon (Adders) will each receive vouchers to use at the fete.
A big thank you to all the families who have helped out by donating an item for our School Fete on Saturday 25th June. We certainly chose the right day for 'Dress Down' - the children are looking cool in their shorts for what looks like being one of the hottest days so far!
Arts week has continued with lots of music! The school was rocking with the sound of African drums and every class worked on writing a school song with Adam from Band Academy. Adders class were treated to a visit from the author Priscilla Mante. She presented each pupil with a personally signed copy of her book, 'Jaz Santos vs the World'. We ended the week with a whole school assembly to share what we had experienced, achieved and most importantly enjoyed!!!!
Arts week is well underway now. The children enjoyed circus skills yesterday. Seb said he liked spinning the plates best and Margot thought she was good at tight rope walking! Each class has been involved with our resident artist for the week, Nicholette. Hedgehogs are dyeing fabrics using foods such as onions and beetroot; Foxes and Otters are designing and making African masks and Adders are working on street art. An outdoor art installation using natural materials and inspired by Andy Goldsworthy is also taking shape. Lots more to come...
It was lovely to see the fantastic birds made by our Art Club on display at the Waste Management/Recycling tent at the Suffolk Show last week. A huge well done to the children and Mrs Aveling for their hard work. The birds will be displayed for the next couple of weeks in the atrium of Endeavour House.
