  • Cave woman Experience

Fri 21 Oct 2022 Mrs Chinnery

The Adders and Hedgehogs classes had a fantastic time with Memma the cavewoman who visited school this week. The children were shown how to make fire with stone and flint, using a mushroom from a silver birch tree. They also learnt about berries, medicinal plants and even conkers used as soap!

  • Medieval Banquet

Fri 21 Oct 2022 Miss Crush

After a busy, busy term we finished our Castles and Knights topic with a banquet fit for Kings and Queens. We had beautiful queens and handsome kings, brave knights and a maid join the celebrations. We even had a marshall, a dragon, a cook and a crocodile ready to raise a toast to the end of the term! The children made their own bread, designed their family crests and created crowns. They danced to celebrate and ate swan and peacock (though we think these may have been chicken nuggets ;) ) The children have had a fantastic first term and we look forward to more exciting adventures to come.

  • The ACE Attendance Bear

Fri 21 Oct 2022 Mrs Chinnery

We would like to introduce the newest member of our school - the Somersham ACE Attendance bear!

The attendance bear will be awarded weekly to the class who has the best attendance for that week.  The winning class will then care for our attendance bear in their classroom.

There were big excited cheers from the Otters class in assembly today, as they were this week's winners of the attendance award and the first class to welcome the bear into their classroom. Well done Otters!

  • Forest School

Fri 14 Oct 2022 Miss Crush

It has been great getting back into full swing with the Forest School sessions.
We have reminded ourselves of how to keep safe, how to respect others and the world around us and how we could grow and have fun! Check out the sticky posters from Year 4.
Here are a few of the things Year 4 said when asked why we did Forest School at Somersham and how we keep safe.

'It helps us be calm and relaxed. It let's us know we don't need to be on screens all the time and it gives us a chance to be outside.'

'If you see berries or mushrooms or nettles don't touch them as some might be poisonous or dangerous.'

'We learn things about plants and stuff and how to look after them and not just cut them down.'

    What incredible ideas!

We also found cheese and berry eating trolls - can you spot them? I can't wait for more adventures as the year goes on.
