Being Healthy and Happy
We aim to equip our children with the emotional resilience needed to cope with life’s challenges so they can be happy, healthy, stay safe, have positive relationships and develop a sense of well-being. We want our pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future.
We encourage pupils to take part in a wide range of activities and experiences across and beyond the curriculum, contributing fully to school and community life.
Our ACE values and Particles, Christian values and curriculum drivers are key to the personal and social development of our pupils and curriculum. They support our pupils to recognise their own worth, work well with others, become increasingly responsible for their own learning and aspire to reach their potential. Pupils are encouraged to reflect on their experiences and understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. They learn to understand and respect our common humanity; diversity and differences so that they can go on to form the effective, fulfilling relationships that are an essential part of life and learning.
In our schools, we choose to deliver our PSHE and RSHE Curriculum using both the PSHE Association and SCARF (Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, Friendship) resources to ensure a high-quality PSHE education for every pupil.
We further support and enrich our curriculum through visits and visitors to our schools such as our local PCSOs.
Key questions for pupils in PSHE:
Health and well-being - Do I know how to take care of my own health and well-being? Can I talk about and manage my feelings and emotions?
Living in the Wider World - Do I understand that everyone is unique and different? Do I understand about my rights and duties, including my responsibility to the environment? Do I know about the importance of money and enterprise in our society
Relationships - Can I talk about how relationships can support my health and well-being? Can I describe a healthy and respectful relationship?
Relationships and Sex Education - Do I understand the rights I have over my own body?
Keeping Safe - Do I know how to keep myself safe? Do I know where I can get help and support when and if I need it?
