Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 children. You really are all ACE superstars and we wish you good luck and happiness for your future.
With the cost of living rising, we would like to make families aware of Ipswich Top Up Shops - https://www.ipswichtopupshops.co.uk/
This is an organisation thats main aim is to alliviate food property and you do not need a referral to use the service, like the food bank. It costs £2 for a large jute bag of fresh, good quality shopping. There are a quite a few places/churches in Ipswich that provide this service.
Please look at the Curriculum section to see Adders Y6 girls performing their amazing dance routine. Scroll down and click on the Adders symbol - you will find the dance video at the end.
WOW! What an amazing production we were all treated to on Friday - acting, singing, dancing and comedy! The cast soldiered on through a few technical problems and background noise, but they showed themselves to be truly professional - well done to all of them and a big thank you to the staff in KS2, especially Miss Pearson, without whom it would not have been possible.
On Wednesday we took a trip around Somersham village to look around its key features. We spotted the Somersham sign, the telephone box and a bus stop. We also ventured in the fields and the woods that surround Somersham. Albie enjoyed hiking in the forest and collecting nature for clay printing. Skye enjoyed racing down Rabbit Hill together as a class and playing in the village play park.
Otters and Foxes had a wonderful day at the zoo to conclude our 'Amazing Africa' topic. They were ACE learners; reading facts, asking questions and observing the animals closely. We got to see a range of African animals as well as a few more weird and wonderful creatures from around the world. We travelled on the train and walked through the lemur enclosure hoping to meet some furry friends! Children also spotted similarities to the Ndebele art we had learnt about. The children represented Somersham School perfectly and we were very proud of them. Here are a few thoughts they had about the day.
" I like how the lion got so close up to us."
"I liked it when we went in where we could see the python underwater. The giraffe was really smelly."
"I enjoyed seeing the Burmese python because it was the biggest snake I saw in my life.We saw the lion and that was one of the most fierce African animals."
"I liked the giraffes because I liked their spots."
We are all really looking forward to the performance of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' on Friday 15th July at 3.30pm. This is taking place on the school field and it looks as though we could be in luck with the weather. Please bring your own chairs and blankets to sit on and your own refreshments as there will not be an interval during the performance and drinks will not be available.
We are very proud of our new wall display which you are able to see on the wall above the bench in the parent's waiting area of the playground. During the pandemic every child painted a ceramic tile and these have been framed and made into this wonderful, colourful piece of art. It represents our happy school and how when we 'live in unity - together we are 'ACE'!
