As part of out Evolution topic, Adders went outside to test their 'beaks' on different 'food' from different islands in a reconstruction of Charles Darwin's Galapagos finches.
When Charles Darwin returned from his trip around the world, it was the different beaks of the finches that first inspired him to develop his theories of evolution.
In our class reconstruction, children collected data to find out how much food they could collect with their beak on each island. They used tweezers, pliers, scissors, pegs and wooden spoons to represent each beak type.
On Friday the school Council spent their break doing a very worthwhile litter pick on the school field. The most common pieces of litter were small pieces of plastic and wrappers that can unfortunately blow out of lunch boxes in the wind. They managed to recruit lots of children to help and collected half a black sack in fifteen minutes!
Well done School Council on helping to raise awareness of the importance of keeping the environment litter free, especially for our local wildlife.
Today we supported Children in Need by joining in with their Spotacular Event. We dressed up in spotty/bright clothes and helped to raise an incredible £190.56!
Our School Council organised some fun Pudsey/spotty themed games and activities for breaktime and we even got to buy Pudsey biscuits and cupcakes as well.
Great fun was had by all!
This week Adders class have been working on their creative presentations of the evolution of the whale. Their texts were so informative and the illustrations were both imaginative and detailed. Some pupils even thought about how the whale might further evolve in the future!
ACE work Adders!
This week saw Otters class win the 'ACE Attendance Bear' for the third week in a row This meant that they were able to name the bear and they decided to call her Mia. We all think it is an ACE name and look forward to seeing her in the different classes around the school.
